This is the "indoor classroom" at the Green House where we had our first meeting and a chance to get to know each other. This is also the house that the girls are staying in.

Our first night was spent talking about the animals we might encounter, and what we'll be doing over the next two weeks...

Some of our projects the first week include:

* Monday- Walking along Broad Cove to look for seals and sea otters (see picture to right)
* Wednesday- Counting hare and deer droppings
* Thursday- Beaver watching

* Sunday- Visiting Kejimkujik National Park

I am wondering what you are wondering about? Do you have any inquires about my upcoming projects? If you do, post a comment and ask! Remember to sign your name, or your classroom/teacher on each comment/inquiry you post!

I look forward to hearing from you!
-Miss Beeman-

Ava,
We have not found any animals yet, we will go out this afternoon!

Maranda,
We have studied the moose a little bit, I am very excited to tell you about what I have larned in my post later today.

Lola,
I will hold small mammals, and if I do not hold them safely they might bite me! I will have to be careful. We will possibly hold mice and voles tomorrow.

Will,
Our first meeting was very informative (it gave me lots of information) about mammals and Nova Scotia. I will be sharing more about what I have learned later.

Parker,
Mammals are called mammals because they drink their mother's milk. They have hair to keep warm.

Ava,
All of us are very excited because we get to share this amazing experience with kids all over the country! We will be teaching kids in Hawaii, California, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota (Bemidji and by us), and North Carolina! If you have time find these on the map hanging on our Mammals of Nova Scotia board.

Elizabeth, Qamar, Lola, Abukar,
Mammals drink milk because that is how they are able to survive when they are brand new babies. They have hair to keep them warm.

They have two sets of legs because they have to catch their food and escape from other predators.

Mammals eat meat and plants because if they all ate the same thing then there wouldn't be enough food!
